Frequently asked questions
Where are Totemband bracelets made?
Every band is made here in Australia, on the Central Coast of NSW, from locally made and imported components. The beads are designed and 3D-printed in our workshop. The leather cord, paracord and stainless clasps come from specialist suppliers overseas, because nobody in Australia braids bolo cord to that consistency. Each band is assembled by hand, to order.
Is the leather real?
Yes. Genuine cowhide, machine-braided into a three-millimetre round cord.
Can I wear it in the water?
Paracord, yes. Rinse it in fresh water after the surf. Leather, no: take it off to swim or shower and wipe it down when it needs it.
How do I know my size?
Measure around your wrist just below the wrist bone, snug but not tight, and pick the size whose range covers it. Sizes run 3XS (12 to 13.5 cm, for kids) to XL (21 to 22.5 cm). The customiser also takes an exact measurement.
Can I put a name on it?
Yes. A name of up to five characters is printed into the bead in the second colour, the same way a symbol is: a name, a date, initials. It’s $10 a bead in the customiser.
Can you make my own symbol?
Yes. Send a sketch or a photo, we draw it as a bead and send you a picture before anything is printed. A custom symbol is $25 per design, and the same design on more beads costs nothing extra.
How long does it take?
Every band is made to order. Allow a few days to make and standard post from the Central Coast; express is available at checkout.
What if it doesn’t fit?
Unworn bands can be exchanged or returned within 30 days. Beads with a name or custom symbol can be exchanged for the same band if unworn.
What’s the warranty?
One year on the making: clasp, beads and cord ends, against faults. Not water damage on leather or heat on the beads.
Do you ship overseas?
Yes, flat rate per order. Australian orders over $60 ship free.
Are the beads plastic?
They’re PLA, a plant-based polymer used in 3D printing, printed solid with the symbol inlaid in a second colour. Keep them out of a hot car.
Are your bands safe for kids?
Totemband bands contain small parts: beads, clasps and, on banded styles, magnets. Not suitable for children under 3. Keep spare beads and loose parts away from small children.
Do you do wholesale or custom runs for brands?
Yes. We make custom runs with a brand’s own symbols on the beads. See For Brands.
